We have been able to welcome Gerry, our Read for Good story teller, to the wards in recent weeks.

Teapot Trust at the GNCH
Pupils at the GNCH get the opportunity to work with Megan from the Tea Pot Trust - a mental health charity that provides support for children and families coping with chronic conditions by delivering art therapy.

Cooking at the GNCH
This week, pupils at the GNCH have been cooking up a mix of their favourite dishes including pizzas, wraps, burritos, and renal friendly desserts.

World Book Day 3rd March 2022
World Book Day allows the teachers the opportunity to dress up as a favourite character from a story.
Art Therapy with Megan
Since February 2020, children who are in hospital at the GNCH have been able to access art therapy with Megan Keane, a qualified art therapist.

New Book Delivery
At the Great North Children's Hospital, we have been very happy to receive our latest delivery of books from Read for Good.

NBS students in the Great North Children's Hospital continue to benefit hugely from working with Melissa and Donna from Newcastle United Foundation and Jack and Duncan from Durham Cricket Foundation.

National Allied Health Professional Day
Last half term we discussed the help the patients receive from not only their consultants, doctors and nurses but also other health professionals.

Climate Change
The students at the GNCH and Freeman Hospital have been extremely busy in the last few weeks, focussing on the important subject of Climate Change.

We break up for Christmas on Friday 18th December 2020 and return to the wards on January 5th 2021! We wish you all a safe and peaceful Christmas and good health and happiness for 2021.

GNCH Students Preparing for Christmas
Students in the GNCH have been preparing for Christmas with their teachers… As well as following their regular curriculum, they have completed many Christmas themed activities. Among the projects, one of the young people has made glove puppets for a “pantomime”. These pictures are a selection of the activities completed.
GNCH Learning and Activities
Newcastle Bridges School teaches children in the GNCH for up to one hour a day, Monday to Friday. We contact children’s home school to find out what their peers are studying. We keep a record of all work completed and send this information to the child’s school. These photographs represent just some of the activities the children complete:
