GNCH Learning and Activities

Newcastle Bridges School teaches children in the GNCH for up to one hour a day, Monday to Friday. We teach all children of statutory school age, of all abilities from P-Levels to GCSE, who are in hospital for at least three days. Newcastle Bridges School aims to support all pupils to achieve their potential, inspire a love of learning and to minimise disruption to their education. We provide a high quality education whilst overcoming barriers to learning posed by a variety of medical conditions.

We contact children’s home school to find out what their peers are studying. We work on these topics with the young people so that they feel connected with their home school. We cover Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Art, Craft, P.E. and topics to engage and motivate them. Children with additional needs follow an individualised, sensory-based curriculum.

We keep a record of all work completed and send this information to the child’s school. We communicate with parents and other professionals to ensure learning experiences are in line with pupil’s current needs.
