Students visited Kirkley Hall and hoped to visit the bunny barn, hold the bunnies and guinea pigs but they were all outside due to the barn being painted. Jacob, the Zookeeper, was able to share some exciting news with us about updating the enclosures and improvements that will be being made, for some new primates coming to the zoo! He was also able to tell us about breeding programmes that the zoo are hoping to be a part of.
We then went to the 'Walk of life' where we got to look at some of the primates and reptiles. We were lucky enough to see the new baby Casque-headed iguanas. They are settling in well. There are also some new tree frogs, they were still undergoing their two week quarantine period, so we were unable to view them.
Jacob was able to show us the Blue Tongue Skink and students were able to wear special leather gloves to handle the Prehensile Tailed Skink, called Grinch. We had to wear gloves because Grinch has very long and sharp claws. We were then able to take the Armadillos, Stinky and Grumpy, out of their enclosure and let them run around the walk of life and hand feed them meal worms as a special treat!
