As part of their Humanities topic on Settlements, students at NBS Kenton carried out research on Newcastle upon Tyne. They discovered that Newcastle has been an important settlement since Roman times, developing into a centre for the coal industry and shipbuilding in later years. In recent times Newcastle has emerged as a popular tourist destination: famous for it's iconic bridges, its museums and galleries and even its football team! As well as finding out about some of the famous sons and daughters of Newcastle students also discovered that Newcastle was the birthplace of some interesting inventions, including Lucozade and Domestos.
Hopefully when lockdown is lifted and restrictions are eased students can visit some of the attractions they researched.
