Return to School on 8 March

Dear Parent or Carer

Return to School on 8 March

The Government announced on 22 February that all students would return to school from 8 March. I am writing to you today to let you know how Newcastle Bridges School will be managing that process.

As you are no doubt aware, we are required to test all of those students who consent to do so three times at five-day intervals over the first three weeks of their return. In order to facilitate this we will stagger the return of our students over the course of the week beginning the 8 March.

Students in Key Stage 4 (classes 1, 2, 3 and 4) will return on Monday 8 March at normal time.

Students in Key Stage 3 (classes 5, 6 and 7) will return on Thursday 11 March at normal time.

All students whose parents have given consent will be given an initial Covid test immediately on their return before they commence lessons. They will then be tested twice more in subsequent weeks.

All the current systems of control designed to reduce the risk of the transmission of Covid 19 will remain in place and students will be expected to wear face coverings in corridors and other communal areas and will be encouraged to do so in classrooms. In addition, staff at NBS Kenton have been vaccinated.

School transport will resume for all eligible students and students will be expected to wear full school uniform. The normal school timetable will also resume from 8 March.

We fully understand the anxieties some students and parents may feel about returning to school with all staff and students present. I would like to assure you that every measure has been taken to make the school as safe a learning environment as it can be. We hope that this sensible approach to reopening alongside the safety protocols in place will enable this return to school to be sustained. Let’s all hope that the remainder of this school year proceeds as normal and that all of our young people can experience some much needed certainty and stability.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school.

Kind regards

CRichardson
